CAIRO (AP) — Sudan’s best common threatened to expel the U.N. envoy to the nation, accusing him of “flagrant interference” in the country’s affairs.
Friday’s responses by Gen. Abdel-Fattah Burhan, head of Sudan’s ruling Sovereign Council, came less than a week right after U.N. envoy Volker Perthes warned that Sudan was heading for “an financial and protection collapse” until it addresses the political paralysis.

A spokesman for the U.N. mission in Sudan declined to comment on Burhan’s remarks.
Burhan also called on the U.N. and the African Union to “facilitate dialogue amongst Sudanese and keep away from exceeding their mandate and interfere in the country’s affairs.”
He reiterated that the generals “don’t want to rule the region alone” and mentioned they have continuously termed on protest groups and other political forces to interact in dialogue and accomplish “national consensus.”
