WHEELING — Community restaurateur Anthony “Herk” Sparachane has been honored as Italian-American of the 12 months by the Undo’s Higher Ohio Valley Italian Heritage Pageant.
Festival President Michele Fabbro explained Sparachane was voted unanimously by the festival’s board as the honoree. The Italian-American of the 12 months, she said, is a single who supports each their group and the Italian heritage in many distinct ways.
Sparachane explained he has been a longtime supporter of the pageant, and that he continued to carry on what his father, Anthony “Undo” Sparachane, experienced taught him.
“I believe Italian heritage is a good deal of providing,” he mentioned. “I’ve been in charge of a whole lot of fundraisers, several organizations. The most essential thing my father taught me was to always take care of an individual with regard.

Tony Filberto, a longtime board member, was also named chairman of the festival’s board Monday. His father experienced served on the first board in 1983, and Filberto’s son also at this time serves on the board, producing it a multi-generational affair for the Filbertos.
