Albania elects top general as the country’s new president

PERMET, Albania — Albania’s parliament on Saturday elected a best army formal as the country’s new president soon after no candidates ended up nominated in three rounds of voting.

Gen.-Maj. Bajram Begaj gained the article following the 140-seat Parliament voted 78 in favor, 4 towards and just one abstained.

The governing still left-wing Socialist Occasion nominated and voted for Begaj, 55, just after failing to arrive at a compromise with the opposition on a candidate to substitute President Ilir Meta, and no independent applicant was nominated.
