A famous Halal food blogger shares her favourite recipe of ‘Masala Fries’ for a quick dish to serve at Iftar. Muslims across the world are continuing to fast for the holy month of Ramadan and break their fast at Iftar time.

Ayesha, who goes by the name of MyBigFatHalalBlog on TikTok and Instagram, has a combined following of over 200,000 people. She has shared a range of Ramadan recipes from delicious chicken pies to rose and cardamom cappuccinos.

But she has told of her favourite but simple recipe ‘Masala Fries’ using simple East End Foods spices that can be found in your cupboard like chilli, turmeric and cumin powder. Scroll down to see the recipe and how to make this tasty treat.

Ingredients

700g fries (baked or fried)

1 heaped tbsp East End Foods ghee

1/2 onion, diced

1 tbsp ginger & garlic paste

1 tsp East End Foods chilli powder

1 tsp East End Foods cumin powder

1 tsp East End Foods coriander powder

1/4 tsp East End Foods turmeric

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp lemon juice

125g chopped tomatoes (I used tin tomato in juice)

4 tbsp ketchup

Chillies, spring onion & coriander to garnish



Simple spices like chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin and coriander powder go into the masala fries

Method

1) Begin by softening the onion on medium heat in ghee with ginger & garlic paste.

2) After a few mins add in all your spices and lemon juice. Cook for a few mins on medium to high heat.

3) Add in the tomatoes and ketchup and cook for a few mins.

4) Add in the cooked fries. Mix & garnish.
